people keep talking about how Amendment One contradicts the 14th amendment of the US Constitution, but how about also something as simple as our nation’s Declaration of Independence which states that
“all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
the pursuit of Happiness is an unalienable right.
banning same-sex marriage, civil unions, and domestic partnerships is pretty much completely squashing NC citizens’ right to plain, simple HAPPINESS.
in case it isn’t realized, “common law” marriages between heterosexual couples are included in this ban.
i think im gonna try to take up whittling this summer. guess i better go get some knives and find some trees to chop down
